Conspicuously, although machines becomeincreasingly clever and automatic these days, they are still subservient tohuman beings and seems that will never reach the height of human beings.Firstly, most machines nowadays are used as tools for scientific calculations.Engineers use software such as Matlab or CAD to construct and calculatemathematic models; chemists apply Pymol and some other imaging equipment tofigure out the internal structure of molecules; psychologists dig into humanthoughts by connecting behaviors to brain activity that detected throughcertain machines with sensors that reflect neuronal signals.
Secondly, Artists express their thoughts intheir compositions, while machines can have never surpassed human beings inthese aspects due to their lack of emotions and independent thinking. It isRyuichi Sakamoto who created a beautiful but lonely Christmas world full ofsorrow in the piano song Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence; it is Jackson Pollockwho incorporated his rebellion and pursuit for freedom into his abstractportrait and gave us his energetic display; and it is Shakespeare who unveiledhis dissatisfaction with the celebrities in his drama that left the futuregenerations with the extreme outburst of emotions and charismatic characters inthe stories. Although machines can perfectly do large amount of calculationsand deductions under programming without fatigue, it is exactly in theimperfections that only exists in human beings, in the mistakes and negativefeelings both mentally and physically where the emotions and humanity resideand therefore from the outburst of emotions and humanity the preciouscompositions from the artists came out.
Thirdly, even with the development ofcertain machines such as artificial intelligence that turns out to increasinglysimilar to human beings, the amount of information that accepted by human mindis much more larger than that accepted by machines in the same moment. Althoughit is possible for those who construct the machines to improve the sensibilityof the machines by advanced sensors and programming, the machines still cannotsense as much details as human mind could do, such as the sags and crests ofthe road, the sound of leaves falling on the ground or of the chafe betweenbody and cloth, or even the smell of cars and people passing by, etc..Moreover, it is even more difficult for machines to not only discern the burstof information but also to construct an overall feeling under the flow ofinformation, since machines have the emotions and independent thinking that ownby every human beings. Therefore, machines like artificial intelligence are,though similar to, still quite different from human beings.
Nevertheless, although there come so muchevidence to prove that machine cannot surpass human, it is still reasonable tolook into the future and expect the development of machine learning in computerscience will bring the machines that surround our life into a brand-new era.The defeat of human beings by Alphago in the five Go game matches provides uswith the possibility that in the future machines can also acquire knowledge byitself and can even learn emotions from human beings and thus surpass human beingsto become a new species.
